Governor General’s Medal in Architecture

Forest Pavilion

This Canadian award honours excellence in recently completed projects by Canadian architects. We received this medal for the Crescent Drive Park Forest Pavilion. The jury commended the project for its elegant integration with the natural landscape and thoughtful response to environmental challenges.

CSLA Award of Excellence

Manitoboggan

Presented by the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, this award recognizes outstanding achievements in landscape architecture. We received this award for Manitoboggan. The jury noted the firm’s commitment to creating spaces that foster universal community interaction and respect ecological integrity through recreation.

RAIC/CSLA Urban Design Award

PARK PARK, UW BikeLAB

This joint award by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects celebrates excellence in urban design projects. Our projects PARK PARK and University of Winnipeg BikeLAB earned this award for their innovative approach to community-scaled urban renewal.

Canadian Architect Award

Railway Avenue Housing, Re-Forming School

This award recognizes architectural excellence in design and innovation. For Railway Avenue Housing, the jury highlighted the firm’s ability to blend aesthetic appeal and a high performance building envelope for a small community in a harsh northern climate. In 1999, Canadian Architect gave and award to our proposal for a hybrid elementary school, ecology centre, library, and public recreational facility that excavated buried storm infrastructures along Garrison Creek in Toronto.

AZ Award, Azure Magazine

Hygge House, Assiniboine Park Washrooms

The AZ Awards celebrate excellence in design and architecture on a global scale. We received this award for creative use of materials and innovative design solutions in public installations. The jury remarked on our “inventive approach to design that challenges traditional norms and delivers engaging public experiences.”

Prairie Design Award of Excellence

Forest Pavilion, Manitoboggan, Assiniboine Park Washrooms

This regional award honours outstanding architectural projects in the Canadian Prairies. These projects were recognized for their socio-ecological sensitivity towards Prairie culture and landscapes. The jury appreciated the firm’s “deep understanding of local context and ability to create spaces that resonate with the community.” 

IOC/IPC International Award for Recreation Design

Manitoboggan

Awarded by the International Olympic Committee and International Paralympic Committee, these two awards recognize excellence in recreational facility design. Manitoboggan was acknowledged for its inclusive and accessible recreational spaces that promote universal physical activity and community well-being. The jury commended Public City’s “dedication to designing facilities that cater to diverse populations and encourage active lifestyles for all ranges of ability.” 

Mayor’s Urban Design Award, Calgary

High Park

This award celebrates excellence in urban design within Calgary. High Park was honoured with a Community Initiatives Award for its reinvention of the upper storey of a municipal parking garage into an active inner-city urban park.

Heritage Award

St. John’s Library, Cornish Library

This award recognizes efforts in preserving and revitalizing Winnipeg’s historical architecture. Each of these Carnegie Libraries received this accolade for their “respectful approach to heritage conservation that balances historical integrity with modern functionality.”

Accessibility Award

Winnipeg Harvest

This award acknowledges designs that prioritize accessibility and inclusivity. The redesign, expansion, and renovation of Winnipeg’s main food bank was recognized for creating spaces that are universally accessible and welcoming to a wide range of economic, social, and cultural demographics.
