Hygge House frames a Danish concept of warmth and gathering through a Canadian cottage lens. This wood-framed shelter brings wilderness ritual to Winnipeg's winter river trails through its glowing fluorescent yellow interior. Inside, salvaged furniture and cottage artifacts transform shared memory into public art. The structure creates shelter from winter while inviting social connection—a counterpoint to warming huts that turn inward against cold. Through its striking presence and open invitation, Hygge House proves how design can turn private nostalgia into common ground.
