The University of Winnipeg Students' Association bikeLAB, a light-infrastructure model built from reclaimed shipping containers, supports sustainable transit and community-driven bike initiatives. Located near the university and a major bus route, bikeLAB offers free maintenance, safety workshops, and lockable storage, serving students, workers, and transit riders. Built off-site and designed with recycled materials, its 350-sf footprint integrates solar options and passive lighting to minimize energy use. The project promotes year-round biking in Winnipeg’s extreme climate, supporting active transit and creating a neighborhood hub for riders of all ages and skill levels.
