Forest Pavilion is an all-season structure located on Treaty One land within the floodway zone of Winnipeg’s Red River. Positioned on a natural knoll in the mature woodlands of Crescent Drive Park, it is the city’s first civic structure to implement FEMA flood protection standards. Designed with an adaptive approach, Forest Pavilion reimagines the traditional park pavilion, responding to cultural and climate shifts that continue to shape the park’s landscape. Winner of the 2022 Governor General’s Medal in Architecture, this project reflects a commitment to resilience, innovation, and environmental stewardship.
