Nicknamed Manitoboggan, the St. Vital Toboggan Slides and Shelter is Winnipeg’s first fully barrier-free toboggan slide. This inclusive project features two toboggan chutes, a four-season warming shelter, a treetop ramped walkway through the forest, and a viewing deck overlooking the slides. Designed with accessibility in mind, the lower slide is fully wheelchair accessible, while the ramp was carefully constructed to preserve the surrounding trees, ensuring minimal environmental impact. Manitoboggan offers an all-abilities winter experience that celebrates the joy of outdoor recreation. The project won a CSLA Award of Excellence, and an IOC and IPC Award for Recreation Infrastructure.
