Thunderhead, winner of an international design competition, is a powerful tribute to the 2SLGBTQI+ community’s resilience, activism, and enduring hope. This national monument, currently under construction in Ottawa, stands as a testament to the courage and humanity of those impacted by the LGBT Purge, discriminatory laws and norms, and Canada’s colonial history. Thunderhead’s design honors the community’s strength and commemorates their journey toward justice, creating a lasting symbol of inclusivity and remembrance.
