The site design for Southeast Collegiate and Lodge creates a campus that reflects and honors Northern Manitoba’s natural environment. Surrounded by native birch, pine, and tamarack, the site integrates pathways that link the lodge to a nearby personal care home, encouraging interactions between students, staff, and community Elders. The Seven Teachings courtyard, a dedicated space for cultural reflection, features a ceremonial fire pit and seating, fostering connection to traditional teachings. Basketball and tetherball courts nestled among birch groves support recreation, while high bush cranberry and saskatoon shrubs bring seasonal interest and natural screening. This thoughtful landscape design enhances a supportive environment for Indigenous students, creating connections to both nature and community heritage.
