The Foxtail Café features a three-season outdoor kitchen, restaurant, and cozy indoor café, where diners enjoy views of the forest in a timber-framed hall with a wood-fired oven and raw steel details. Wood serves as fuel, structure, and finish, reflecting the park’s “cookshack” heritage with a modern twist. Using 6x10 red pine timbers, steel plates, and a kingpost/tension rod truss, the design offers flexible frame heights and depths without resizing timbers. This hybrid structure brings a contemporary approach to traditional log and timber architecture, enhancing the park’s communal and natural character.
