Deer Lodge House was designed for a family who inherited a 1912 home built by the owner’s great-uncle with bricks from a family kiln in Portage La Prairie. As their family grew, a new three-story home was created in its place, echoing the original layout with a contemporary feel. Reclaimed bricks, a central winding stair, and a large basement honour the past, while an expansive kitchen wing and green roofs embrace modern living. The design integrates with the wooded river lot, featuring exposed steel, reclaimed wood floors, and gathering spaces that connect to the outdoor environment.
