The conceptual design for Boxcar Alley transforms the under-utilized space beneath the CN rail line near The Forks in Winnipeg into a vibrant hub. Using reclaimed shipping containers, Boxcar Alley offers workshop and retail spaces for local artists and makers, with an elevated canopy of modified containers creating a covered pedestrian promenade. This modular, evolving space contrasts with The Forks Market while enhancing connections to downtown Winnipeg. Aimed at revitalizing the area’s edges, the project fosters community engagement, supports local business, and provides creative opportunities for artists and visitors.
